ANNUAL FESTIVAL “AROHAN” AT NITIE
National Institute of Industrial Engineering, Mumbai successfully concluded its annual cultural festival, ‘AROHAN’ which was held under the umbrella of AVARTAN, from 24th -26th October 2015. This year the festival scaled new heights with the presence of the Bollywood superstar, Mr. Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the special guest. The entire NITIE family had a great time interacting with the star. The presence of celebrities such as Khushboo Purohit, Ricky Nandal, Dinesh Tiwari, Saru Maini, Djsheizwood and Rupak Dhamankar made the festival even more successful. The three-day extravaganza was full of fun and enthusiasm. The festival saw participation from major institutions across the country in 7 competitions: Nukkad Natak(Street Play), Headbangerz Arena(War of Bands), Rendezvous(Fashion Show), Nrityotsav(Dance competition), Surkshetra(Singing competition), Open Shutter (Photography) and Chalchitra (Film Making Competition).
The festival started in the afternoon with Nukkad Natak; wherein the teams created awareness on various social issues. The themes were on Women empowerment and Sex Education. The programme was followed by Surkshetra and Headbangerz Arena in the evening of the first day. In Headbangerz Arena, the bands came from different locations in India entertained the audience as they played their original compositions during the event. The winners of Headbangerz Arena were ‘MH43’ and ‘The Last Rituals’. The event also saw the special performance from the band, ‘Clay Crown’. The second day had Nrityotsav and Rendezvous, in the former event there were both solo as well as group competition in which enthusiastic participation was seen whereas, in the latter event, new trends were seen as the teams from different institutes flaunted with style on the ramp. Rendezvous ended with the declaration of the best team, Mr. & Ms. Rendezvous. The third day was entirely dedicated to NITIE students as the administration welcomed new students in the batch fresher. On this evening, the junior batch showed their talent as they performed with grace on the stage this was followed by distribution of certificates for the entire student body representing the various committees, forums, VPs, and Secretaries from the senior batch. Post event there was a dinner for the entire administration and student body.
Arohan'15, the cultural festival of NITIE was proud to have Collegeonclick.com as its social media partner, with the help of which it publicized various pre and post event details ranging from the rules, deadlines and many more. The main channel of publication was Facebook through the page of both Arohan NITIE and Collegeonclick.com. Collegeonclick.com also promoted the event on social media especially Facebook by giving goodies to everyone who clicked the selfie during Arohan and who tagged both the above pages. The online publicity through these mediums had a reach of more than 10,000 and these channels were the source of quick information for all the participants. Also, there were different WhatsApp group wherein Cultural Committee volunteers informed the batch mates about the events. Also, there was a nationwide promotion through ‘ALL INDIA RADIO’, where the student volunteers introduced about the college and the festival to the whole nation in a program that was broadcasted live on the AIR channel.
